33 Million being held!!!
Anyone been keeping up with this "horror story"?
Has it effected anyone here?
The DOJ, is at it again, freezing over $33 Million in poker player's winnings, and deposits at sites such as Poker stars, Full Tilt and Absolute. Two banks & Wells Fargo were told to freeze all monies that are processed through the payment processor "Allied".
Unbelievable! But Poker Players Alliance are on top of this, and hopefully will get this resolved quickly.

I've heard a few things about this, but wasn't sure why it was happening.
Now I know, thanks catwoman, that our government is at it again.
Thanks to their screw-up with the UIGEA being passed, they are looking for ways to use the moneys they stole from other countries, through the very reason they passed the un-forseen law.
Through some type of gambling. And hey, why not poker since it's the main topic these days?

I can't believe our Gov't sometimes.
Time are tough so I guess if you can steal $33 million it would go a long way.

Re: 33 Million being held!!!
Our government is the biggest thiefs there are. And they get away with everything that us ordinary citizens would end up in jail for....look at Martha Stewart...i mean come on...she goes to jail for nothing, and they steal everything!!
I haven't heard much in the past couple of days, so they are not gloating over this, that maybe a good sign for us.
fingers crossed.

Re: 33 Million being held!!!
I just recently received and email from a co-worker, in the email the government wants us to throw away all of our old ammo and tell us to use the new "coded" ammo for our guns.
I hope this ok to put on here, it's a link to the states that will be affected with the ammo swapping.

What's next?
I guess it will be everyone getting their forehead stamped.

Yep, there's real pattern to our Government's confused state, trying to confuse us.
So, It will take about 30 million to get the ammo boxes changed and about 3 million to throw a party after the bill was passed.
The gas prices use to go up every time the military needed something in the war zone, which is ok by me and many more Americans, but to raise the tax on ciggarettes for a continual flow of cash for the Government's use; preposterous.
They need to stop their big spending up there or it'll bite them in the arse (again).

Re: 33 Million being held!!!
You are so right Dyno! What is the deal with the government and cigs? Over here in CT. its like every other month they are upping the price, every single time the state needs money to fix something, or to give themselves raises...its time to raise the damn sales tax on cig's....isn't there something else they can do to get the money they need or want? Christ they have to casinos here that they get about 10% of slot intake every single month...what the hell do they do with all those millions ?

Re: 33 Million being held!!!
Perhaps they're working on a plan to re-build the Social Security that they have been stealing from for the past....
who knows how many years now.
Or they're working on another new multi-billion dollar defense system.

Re: 33 Million being held!!!
Here's an update on this situation from the PPA:
Quote:
We have been advised that the action taken by the Department of Justice was NOT an enforcement action based on the UIGEA. Since the regulations have not yet taken effect, the DOJ could not use them as a basis for action. It is important to note that the UIGEA regulations do not try to restrict payouts only deposits to "unlawful Internet gambling" sites.
...
The PPA is not aware of any Federal law that restricts your right to play poker online. For many years, the DOJ has attempted a very broad interpretation of the Wire Act (18 USC §1084), a bill first passed in 1948 and revised in 1961. The Wire Act was passed in order to control the transmission of sports bets and sports betting information. The Wire Act does not affect or control online gaming of any type, including poker. This was affirmed in the US Fifth Circuit Court's landmark 2002 ruling affirming that the Wire Act pertains only to sports betting. [see re In MasterCard]

And social security?? They should be worried about Medicare...it's going to be bankrupt in the near future, I'm sure....then what happens to all the seniors and disabled people that rely on that for their health care?
