I've been in that donkey spot before, while playing at a live tourney in Vegas.
My wife had a QXos in seat 2 and I had a 25os in seat 7, about a half hour into the tourney. I raised pre-flop on those small cards to buy a pot, since I was big blind and had to cover my chips from being taken. Two players to my left fold. My wife calls since she is short stacked and is trying to buy the pot. Everyone else folds.
The flop came 7Q5, or something to that effect. We both caught a pair on the flop. I checked, she bet and I called.
The turn was no help to either of us and we both checked. She was down to about a bet and a half in chips.
The river came a 2, giving me 2 pair. She was first to bet and went all in.
I gave her my stare-down. She looks at me and says, "Don't do it. Tell me you aren't gonna call. I need that pot." I just smile and call.
I know it's not nice to take out your wife in a tourney, but she helped me make it to the final table.
