Default I am quitting poker forever

I plopped $400 down for the Cake Poker Halloween reload and within an hour I was down half of it. 1 for 7 at showdown. Two flopped sets lost, a nut flush lost and a nut low at O/8 got counterfeited when an ace hit the river.

What ghastly luck!

Did I forget to mention that I quit poker forever 3 or 4 times a year?

I was back at the tables an hour later, but switched over to one of the rooms on the Merge Poker Network. Won back about $60 of it playing $1/2 FRLH and $25 NL. Three great hands from that session.

I was playing short-stacked with $8 at the $25NL table because I was still a bit annoyed at my previous run of luck. I get pocket AA and someone before me raised the pot, so I pushed over the top pre-flop, and he called me with JJ. I doubled up through him. Very next hand I have QQ and I push over the top all-in on the same guy again. He calls with AKo and my QQ holds up. So I went 4X in two hands there.

At the $1/2 limit table I discovered that when HU on Merge Network there is no limit to the re-raises. I had AA and raised first in. I got re-raised and it folded around to me. I 4-bet and this guy re-raises again! We continued re-raising each other until I was all-in pre-flop for $27. He showed KK and my aces held up for a nice pot in one of the strangest limit hands I have ever played.

That first set of games was a bad beat for sure Biscuit.

I'm glad to see your story has a sort-of good ending though with the streak of luck at the end of the night.

Not as much in return, but a great ending towards wanting to quit poker forever.

I quit all the time too. Some things upset me so much. I can win 10x hands and yet I always lose the big one.

Example, I'm in this rebuy tournament.. doubled my way up to 12k with AA against... Q3o. Well 1-2 hands later, I get 45 and flop a straight (678 ). Knowing how rigged poker is, my spider senses alerted me something would make me lose, so I only bet small. Turn, as I expected, was a 5. Anyway, the other big stack had only bet small on the turn and the river so I raised him and the 5 didn't matter, since he flopped a bigger straight with 9T.

So overall in about 20 hands, I went from 12k to 0 without winning a single pot. I'm the Mike Mathusow of small stakes. I get a lot of chips and then the bubble ALWAYS bursts.

Urghhh.. another example of me totally bursting in 3 hands in a row.

I have 11k chips, which is the chip leader on the table.

Hand 1 : I'm on the big blind with A6s, everyone folds to the small stack small blind which raises to 500. I raise him to 1200 all-in, he has AT and wins it.

Hand 2 : I'm on the small blind with 33. Some loose guy raises to 300, I call and big blind calls. Flop is 854 so I called smallish bets until the river, he had KK and big blind had TT, so again I was dominated.

Hand 3 : I'm on the button with QQ. Some relatively tight guy raises to 500. Someone calls, and I raise to 1800. Tight guy raises to 4k and other guy folds. I call and flop has no help, and the guy turns AA.

Owned.
