Default Fundamental to becoming a better poker strategist

1.Common Sense,a element of poker strategy that most players do not seem to get is that most decisions are based on common sense. If you have a good hand, you should bet or raise. If you have a lousy hand, you should check or fold. That is common sense.

2.Tight Play VS Loose Play, one way to examine a person's tendencies playing poker is to look at how many hands they play. If a player plays lots of hands, that player is considered a loose player. but if player who plays very few hands is considered tight.

There are also different names for the types of poker playing too, with a couple already mentioned above; Loose play and Tight play.

You can also add the word Aggressive to those, as some players are Loose Aggressive and some are Tight Agressive.

Loose Agressive players can be called Maniacs at times, where they will bet on every hand and raise towards the end to try and steal the pot.
Manaic players will raise all of the time when they have enough chips to cover their bets.

Tight Aggressive players are usually the ones who make it to the money spot, or close to it, as they will play a good hand to the end if they think they can win the pot.
But on the other hand, they will fold if their hands don't rank enough to be played.

I like playing tight agressive poker games most of the time.
A veteran poker player will mix-up his/her hand play though, to throw off other players thoughts.
That's the thing I have trouble with in my games, knowing when to switch-it-up and play differently every so often.

And as always, practice makes perfect. The more you practice (and learn to play smart), the better you become.
