Default playing as chip leader

How would you guys recomend playing as the big stack?

I`m in a tourny at the moment, pays top 20 and I`m in first with about 45k in chips, 2 nd place has about 35k blinds are 300/600 and 10th place has about 18k.

I play tight aggressive in MTT.

Should I sit and wait for premium hands and ensure I get to final table, or loosen up and chance losing chips? As an example, there are 8 at my table at the moment, I am UTG with A7s and I folded - as Harrington says, I folded A with a poor kicker!!!

I have seen so many ppl with a commanding chip lead start to play more hands and their chip lead soon dwindles.

What do u guys think?

A major reason this happens so often is that those players don't play their big stacks very well. They bet out with some mediocre holding - that's fine in order to put some pressure on the smaller stacks. However, when someone shows strength by coming over the top, they call too often, or even re-raise in a show of bravado. And since they did this with a mediocre hand, they often lose. The main cause of the damage to their stack isn't playing more mediocre hands; it's playing them for too many chips.

Good read there guys

My tip is study, watch for the other calling stations,I use the big stack for the bluffers,i can call and it wont kill me and i like the 4x raises to back of any
short or Midstacks from fishing when u have a so so hand like A10 suited,or small pocket

I have the same problem. When I'm the chip leader, I start to lose more hands. I have the course of chipleader. I lose tomorrow KK vs 33 on river. That's all

Default relax

if i was a chip leader, i would play a little tighter and try to win pots when i get better hands. tournament wise, take your time and relax for hands.

I recommend that you don't do anything different than what got you the chip lead. I have blown many chips leads by playing more hands. Go ahead and push around the short stacks and be a little more aggressive at times, but don't limp in with garbage.

If I'm near the bubble and my chiplead is that strong that I have 10x what a short stack has when they go all in and am last to act I'll call with any 2cards as knocking them out brings me closer to the money, also makes every1 think am super loose

Got that from Harringtons book, sounded abit dodgy at first but everytime I've done it I've won and then had action on all my bets on the final table as it really stands out when someone calls an all in on 8-5

Without a doubt tight-agressive. You have 75 BBs, and are in second nearing the end of the tourney. Sometimes we whine about just letting the cards work it out, but from here that sounds like a good plan. You didnt say how many were left which could be a factor, but really should be easily into the final table I figure and you're gonna get more value later when the blinds increase.

haha two posts in a row.... Mac that was kinda my second thought. You can use the big stack to pick up on patterns while playing tight agresseive and pick off a small stack over agressive player.

Ya deco its always good to look super loose and you dont have much to lose pn top of that if its 10-20% of yur stack. Say you win and chip up(that 58's gotta win 30%of the time) then u prob get paid when you tighten up and reraise with KK.
