Re: Toms Handy Hints For Low Limit NLHE
One thing I'd like to add to this is something about River play that I see happen to a lot of players.
Let's say you have K-Qs on the button and you catch a pair of K's on the flop. Decent hand, but not great. It checks to you, so of course you bet the pot. All the other players except one folds. The turn comes out, a brick, he checks to you, you bet, and he calls again. Now the river is a scare card. Maybe it pairs the board, or puts a straight possiblilty or 3 flush on the board. But he checks again. Whatever you do here, don't bet. No possible good can come out of it. If he was drawing and missed, you're probably not gonna get a call. If he was drawing and hit you're probably gonna pay dearly for it. If he is a decent player, he might also use that scare card to bluff you off the pot. In general, when you have a marginal holding in position and it gets checked to you on the river, the best option is usually to check and go to a showdown. That is of course, unless you improve on the river.
