Default Weak Tights or Maniacs? Which do you prefer?

Which would you rather have at your table, some weak tight players or a maniac or two?

I'll take the maniacs every time. Playing them is easy, and they can also get some other players at the table all spun up, and then they'll start playing badly also.

It can be frustrating if they are getting run over by the deck, or if you are card dead and can't get in any pots with them, but that all averages out over time.

I love me some maniacs!

That's probably because you realize they are a maniac when they show down a couple of lucky winners. When you see the 85o or the J6o they re-raised with pre-flop take down a big pot, it hits you in the face that they are a maniac. And if it busted your AA or KK, it can get you steaming for sure! Or, when they take a big pot or two off of you and then watch them redistribute your chips to the rest of the table!

You just have to wait for a good hand and try to isolate them with your pre-flop betting. They are not nearly as prevalent as they were a few years ago, but I love when I find one.

I find a lot of them going wild in the beginning of a big tournie - make it or break it kind of thing. That is easy to spot. But - sometimes they play perfectly sensible and suddenly go nuts and I did fold some good cards over that.

But then, I'm not that good a player - yet.

Weak tights? You mean nits?

I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to maniacs. I love them when they chase and miss, and hate them when they're hitting everything

But, in the end they always pay great dividends

The nits....err, weak tights, I'd rather not get involved with a hand with them heads up. They're almost impossible to trap, unless they have a monster and you have a better monster; which doesn't happen very often. Even if you make the nuts, more than likely you're not going to get paid off.

How about certain maniacs - can that be an answer?

I LOVE maniacs chasing and chasing - rebuy - chase and chase - repeat

Eventually they leave broke and are sooo easy to trap.

But the maniacs that hit and run drive me crazy!

Big pot - calling your every raise - flip over a miracle 2 out winner on the river and then presto they leave with my money!

I just want to shoot them!

hehe...I don't play many R&A tournaments, but the ones I do play in, 90% of the time I've never had to buy-in more than the original entry + an instant rebuy to double my stack, and the add-on at the end of the 1st hour.

Maybe I've just been lucky? I just go into a R&A tourney and play my normal game. No reason to get stupid and waste money by pushing all in every hand. If I get all in and get a bad beat, of course I'll rebuy, but it won't be because I was playing like Gus Hansen

Maniacs make it a boring game. I usually just sit back for my KK AA then lose to 2-4.

Tight players are easier to play against. I always pot size raise with anything to chase them off. Ill take down about 7 out of 10 pots that way so it makes up for the times I get caught. I have no issues dropping top pair with a weak kicker against these players so I find them fairly comfortable to play against as I know when they have a hand.

Yeah I want to play those normal too...but there are always some "maniacs" (i say that but thinking something else fill in blanks..LOL) there going all in on crap.

and like Bobby says....you sit and wait them out..and finally get KK or AA...and they beat you with 2-4 or something
