Telegraph Qualifier
I felt like I was playing smart. I dropped some big border line hands along the way and made three gut instinct calls that made the difference down the stretch. With about 45 players left I made a gut call on the only other big chip guy at the table. He was small blind directly to my left. There had been a lot of small pots and nothing big for a good 40 minutes. SB has about $92k and I've got about $86k, no else was even close. A lot of guys have been playing weak hands and eventually pulling out a win because of small betting. Blinds are 400/800.It folds around to me and BB is a sitout so I'm gonna try and steal. I bump the blind $10k on a 97o, a complete bluff but at this table right now should be an easy win. SB takes a LONG time to call which is VERY unusual for him. I figure he's got a mediocre hand like A6. Flop comes out 437 different suits. Again he takes a long time but now he's commited almost $11k to the pot and doesn't want to give it up. So he bets way out of character $30k. Now the table was tight and big bets usually ment big hands but, this bet didn't seem right. So screw it, I've got top pair and I don't belive he rolled a set, or even paired up for that matter. ALL IN. I tried to mimic his betting to hopefully give the same vibe only I had top pair. He takes a long pause again, then calls. A4o. Cards roll 5 then 3. I double up BIG. This was the real deciding play of the tournament for me.That was the most fun I've had in a tournament in awhile. Qualified and came in second.
