The Best I've Done So Far..
I've never done well in a live tournament, but two years ago I almost made it into the WPF on sixty bucks. I bought into Act I for the sixty, and won the next two one table satellites to get into Act III 1000 buy in super satellite. Well it was only a few days from the start of the final event, so EVERYONE was already there. I was just havin a blast watching all the guys I see on TV all the time up close. I never expected to make it this far, and when I sat down I never expected to see Dan Harrington sitting five seats away! Well he actually busted out early on on a bad beat but it was still a thrill. So I get a pretty tough beat early on myself. We started with three thousand in chips and I lost have of that with two pair to a flush. I came back to about five thousand when my table broke and we went to the next table. I sit down and look to my left and see Chip Jet two seats to my left! The blinds were climbin and I wasn't getting good starting hands, so the time had come to make my stand. I was on the button with 10 J hearts and decided this was gonna be my shot. I raised the pot and Chip cold calls me from the big blind. Im thinkin he has me with ak aq so at least i think i have a good idea of where i stand. An eight high flop with two hearts comes and Chip checks it to me. Well thats good enough of a sign for me so I push and he calls immediately and flips his kings over to my dismay. I knew in my gut no heart was coming and I stood up and gathered my things. No heart came and I was done. Cathy Leibert takes my seat over and shows me how it should be done. A new guy comes to the table the next hand with more money than Bill Gates in front of him, and I go to the phones to let my friend know I didn't make it. I come back to watch and the new guy is nowhere to be seen and Cathy has all his chips. I guess I could have posted this in the beats category but it wasnt a bad beat, and to me it was a win just to be able to say i played with them. Loved every minute of it!
