Default A-K vs. AA

Most of time I will prefer A-K - AA for two reasons 1. You can win alot if you make a str8 or 2 pair 2. You don't lose near as much money with it. If you flop[ a hand you win alot if you don't you fold and give up a little.

i would never want ak over aa because getting a straight would be hard, and the percentages of getting it is low. also if u get 2 pair the like this:

the other dude has trips
or like this:
the dude has a higher 2 pair.
therefore i wouldnt want ak over aa

AA no doubt.... the chances of getting a straight or 2 pair are low... thats why they win most of the time... AA is a better hand percentage wise to

In a ring game, i'll prefer AK because it's too hard to lay down AA and when you lose... you'll lose a lot of money... AK is easier to fold...

wow the bad press AA gets off people sometimes amazes me

It is the best hand possible in poker
You have more than an 80% advantage against any other possible hand!

AK you are relying on making a pair
Most the time this will not happen

AA is you best hope for winning the pot. Especially if you go all in pre-flop and isolate to one player. Odds are you'll double up most times.
There is the odd time your aces will get cracked but it's worth taking the chance.

The AA really gives an impression to it of being able, better hand, but, to a large extent of the cases river finishes showing the the opposite to it. AK is a criterios hand.
