Default I made the worst play ever!!

Last night, I was playing in a tourney and was on the bubble with over $40K, and the player with the lowest money was sitting out with only $70 in his bank. Obviously with the next round, the guy sitting out would have been allin with the BB and therefore most likely would have forfeited his $$ because we would have raised him to force a FOLD. Well STUPID ME!!! calls and allin bet because I had a st8 but I wasn't paying attention and their were four hearts on the table. Well needless to say, I was taken down hard and left the table with no money, and the person who had the $70 and was sitting out took the money!! I made the worst play ever and should have just folded my cards!!!

thats tough, pretty dumb mistake on your part, now that sitter looks like a genious because him sitting out allowed him to make the money lol...but when it comes down to that situation, you should fold about 90% hands just so you dont get involved in getting eliminated on the bubble.

I strongly disagree with this unless it's a satelite event (i.e. top 20 places progress or whatever)... don't play to scrape into the money play to win. If you've got a good hand don't fold it just because you might bubble... tournaments are top heavy on their payouts and 10 scrapes into the money is probably less than 1 top 3 finish (in general) so don't get scared and play to win.

(Obviously I don't mean yeah call with your straight there.. that was a mistake but you get what I mean)

I do play a lot of satelite events and today I went all in with an 8-K because two 8s came out on the flop; one person called and they also had an 8 but had a 2 as well so thought for sure I would win until the infamous 2 came out on the river so I lost it all. Grrrrrrrrr.... I guess I always play to win but poker can be so frustrating sometimes!!
