Default Low rollers - decent payoff - Pokerstars

Sunday Million Qualifiers

$2.22 rebuy

$2.02 rebuys unlimited for 2000 chips

add on for 5000 chips at 1hr break

Strategy - Ultra tight 1st hour

Only play your blinds. from 30 min onwards its allin or nothing

around 40 min the blinds start to get steep and the antis kick in.

Aim is to get to the break without a rebuy (well that should be the norm).

At 50min you will be forced allin with 2000 chips or less, survive to the break.

Take the add on and play manic on you blinds. Build up or crash.

When you get comfortable, bully the average stacks, not the shortstack as the mid stacks are more inclined to fold protecting their position.

I used this strategy today.

107 players 366 rebuys 43 addons $1042.32 prize pool

1st-4th get $215 ticket
5th got $182.32

Note : you can unregister for sunday million and use your $215 for smaller tournies.

5min ago I finished 5th for the $182.32, total ****er, K7 suited beat KK to flush on the river. I was out of the hand. If the KK had held up my ticket was secured. Next hand My KJ was busted by K7 to kill me off and end the game, None-the-less, a nice result and a 4am bedtime story I thought Id share with you (was already writing the strategy during the game but good to have a result to go with it).

My total investment

$2.22 entry

$2.02 rebuy (50 min)
$2.02 rebuy (right on break)
$2.02 addon (during break)

Total investment = $8.28

Summary - some players play crazy 1st hour boosting the pot and making the tourney great value. Many dont realize that a big early lead is nothing in these tournies. The aim is just to stay in the game for as little money as possible until the break.

When you hit the break, have the field are gone. I think 57 players were left by that time. Now the odds v payoff are looking decent. I had just over 7000 chips, some had over 100k. From there, you need a little luck and the right calls but I suggest its the cheapest way to approach this sort of game long term + a higher EV

Game should last a couple of hours.

Nite! Nite!

Great post....Will have to give that a shot next time I'm in a R&A satellite. It makes a ton of sense, and I can definitely see how it works...maybe not short term, but over multiple tournaments. You can't get unlucky in all of them, right? hehe

Thanks.

Good going on your poker tourney bobbysands90.

You missed the ticket by that|<>|much. That stinks.

Sounds like you've used good poker strategy and you did get something out of it, and that's a good thing.

I did get a ticket to a money tourney once, a 10k tourney, but didn't even make it to the money in that one.

If I had the chance to get in a money tourney today, I would play different and try to at least make it to the break.
My poker strategy has changed in the past few years, so that should make a difference.

Very Nice!!

Been itching again to try a few tournaments and the Sunday Million has been a goal of mine - May have to try one out and give this a try.

Great post - Love the tournament strategy tips.

Thank you Bobbysands, you sound like a pro! Maybe i will be seeing you on TV some day!

I would love to try these tourneys out, someday when i get the nerve, i do love to play poker and i am not bad at it, but not good enough to win against people like yourself.
