Poker Stars and I are Steppin'
What the heck - Lets step together. Thought I would give the Poker Stars Steps a try.
I'll let Pokerstars tell ya what they are:
Quote:
You can win your 2009 PCA prize package with our Steps satellites, starting from just $7.50 or 500 Frequent Player Point credits to start at Step 1.
Make it to Step 6 and you’ll get the chance to play for a PCA prize package that includes the Main Event buy-in, luxury hotel accommodation and money for expenses. Even if you don’t advance in a particular Step, you can win a chance to play again at the same level or the one below. You can also buy in directly to any Step level.
|
So I started tonight - Step One and I won!

Good job propiper!
Just wanted to point out, that going all-in with a Q in your hand; not a good idea.
Especially one with a week os kicker like the SB had.

LOL!
I can sorta justify the 33 - Being just fourth hand - no one new who was bluffing and who wasn't...but I think with the two all-ins in front of you, I could lay that down.
All I can say about the Q8 is thanks for the chips.

This one was a mission because cards were DEAD! I lucked out to till there were only about 4 left, hands histories read like this...
folded before Flop (didn't bet)
It tried my patience hard but finally hit and hit BIG and far as type of hand...this took me from a little over t600 chips to t1600 and finally the cards starting coming.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, Step 2
SB (t2455)
BB (t5440)
UTG (t4985)
Hero (Button) (t620)
Preflop: Hero is Button with 8 , 8
1 fold, Hero raises to t595 (All-In), SB raises to t2430 (All-In), 1 fold
Flop: (t1690) 10 , 8 , 10 (2 players, 2 all-in)
Turn: (t1690) 8 (2 players, 2 all-in)
River: (t1690) 4 (2 players, 2 all-in)
Total pot: t1690
Results:
Hero had 8 , 8 (four of a kind, eights).
SB had A , 3 (two pair, tens and eights).
Outcome: Hero won t1690
I was playing pretty tight (obviously) and not sure why he was compelled to go all-in and isolate me with A3o of all hands but it worked out for me

Re: Poker Stars and I are Steppin'
I know a guy who went to the WSOP main event with about 4$.. it was actually easy in a way, but required a lot of time. He was playing on Tigergaming. To get the grand prize, you had to win 8 steps or so.
But the first 3 were a joke. Step 1 is free, step 2 was like 4 cents, etc. He would buy-in at step 4 which cost 2$ or something really small like that. Winning that, he earned "coins". Well, he'd just buy in step 4 again, and again, and again, and again, until he had enough coins to do about 8-10 buy-ins for step 5.
So he'd play his step 5s and would win maybe 2-3 out of 8. Then he'd go on to step 6 etc. If he didn't win he'd start over.
Anyway, it took him a while but he won a 14k package for about 4$.

Re: Poker Stars and I are Steppin'
Seems to be the case here too...I bombed out at step three but the donk play was just as bad there as it was at step 1.
I'll keep trying - was fun!!

Sorry to hear about this propiper, but I'm sure you will get it one day.
If it wasn't for the donk play you run into where players get lucky.
