Default Question about a rule....help me out.

Okay, this has came up before and I was thinking about it last night, so I figured you guys would know the answer. Okay, lets say were down to the final 3 players, the top 3 spots pay out. The two smaller stacks go all in in the same hand, but the big stack ends up winning the hand. What determines who gets 2nd pay out, and who gets 3rd payout. Is it depending on who had more chips at the time, or who had the better hand between the two of them....or is it something else. This doesnt happen real often, but can be a conflict if it does.

If both go out the one with the bigger stack entering the hand finishes 2:nd.

Also, if by some coincidence they both have the same ammount of chips before the hand is dealt, they both would take second place and split both 2nd and 3rd place winnings equally. Like if second place payed $100 and third place payed $50, they would both get $75.

What PapaHun said is usually but not always the case since tournaments, casinos and sites can and sometimes do have different rules. For instance, in a major live tourney a few weeks ago, two people went out on the same hand during hand for hand play right on the bubble. They didn't have the same number of chips, but they each got half the smallest prize.
