Re: Sick calls thread
That's pretty good, or they're pretty bad.
Maybe I should get into these tourneys.
Nah, knowing my luck these guys won't be bluffing when I make the call.
That was good where homer464 only had a K high. The way he was betting you would think he'd have at least a J for a pair.

He was playing ABC poker before that hand, so when he flatcalled my raise on the flop and my bet on the turn, then moved all in on the river, I knew he had missed
If he had bet lower, I would actually have to throw it away....maybe..

I guess the ABC poker is sorta like poker plays 101, right?
That's nuts. Before I'd call, I'd have to have a pair on the board.
With the way you were playing, matching for a pair of 4's I would have folded, but with a pair of 10's I would've stayed.

Re: Sick calls thread
What does "sick calls" mean?
And i agree with don, i would of stayed with 10's or higher to, but anything lower, i would of not pushed my luck. I wish i knew how to bluff "good" , any suggestions?

Re: Sick calls thread
Sick Call: When a player makes an all-in call with nothing, and wins the pot.
Is that close enough beaston?
I could be backwards on this, but when someone has done something "sick" in poker, that usually means he/she got lucky in a game.

Yes, and no...you could have more than nothing, but not top pair, straight, flush, etc that the board may be showing. And it doesn't have to always be for all of your chips.
I've called people down with as low as a pair of deuces before...the thing of it is, you look like a genius when you've got the correct read, but look like an idiot if you were wrong.
To break it down, when you're calling with hands like that, usually the only thing you could beat is a bluff...

Re: Sick calls thread
Thanks Guys, geez i have so much to learn, and this is why i am afraid to signup to any touranments, as much as i love to play cards, any kind, i don't want to **** off anyone when playing by not knowing the rules, the stategy, etc...
Thanks for helping me out with all these terms and stuff, i am leaning more and more from participating here, and someday i wil feel confident enough to try a round somewhere!

Re: Sick calls thread
I think it would be best to learn how the game is played by reading about it first, and then play the free games to experience the game.
After you've played several rounds and get use to how the game is played, then you can try for the cash games.
I've noticed in the lower buy-in games though, there are still many players who will play crazy with the all-in or pot raises.
They will try to buy the pot so to speak, or just love the thrill of seeing others fold, when they have nothing and get away with it.
Other times they will get lucky, like when you call them and then they take the pot anyway with their decent hand. That's what I call sick.
