Default Waiting till the last sec.!!!

God how annoying is it to play at a table were one or more players wait until the very last sec to decide if they are in or out?

COME ON! Why do they insist on holding up the game, and the worst part is, when they finally make a move, the rest of us are so fend up that we call or bet so quick, that its the jerks turn again, and here comes the "count down" clock, all over again!

Argghhgghghghgh!

You get that a lot in online poker, and especially when it's the start of the tourney, when the timer ticks down and the players who aren't around end up sitting out.

I've gotten busy during a couple tourneys myself this weekend and had to sit out. But only one where I joined, yesturday, and didn't have time to sit out, so the timer just ran down for me once.
(My wife and I were painting our living room)

I think several of the players will do this when they don't get any good hands and just let the timer run out.
Others are just playing in so many games they can't get to that game in time.
Some players will join and forget about the game or leave the room or house.
And at other times a player may be too involved in a game they like more, or it's a money game, so they won't worry about the free game and let the timer run out.

You will see this quite often in online poker.
Either the players who let the clock run out will join in and play, or will eventually time out and be sitting out the tourney.

Geez Don, you just keep your calm don't you? lol....i get so annoyed at this, i am the type of player where i can't wait to play! lol...so i guess i am just going to have to learn to be patient and find something to keep myself busy while playing. So in real money games this does not happen as much?

I do get annoyed quite often, but sometimes I will sit for up to 20 seconds contemplating whether or not I should call a hand or fold after a raise.

You have to keep your cool in poker.
I think many players want to "just play the game", so there are those who will run the timer down just to upset players who want to play "now".

It's good strategy on their part to run the clock down, to get you to make a raise call, when they have the nuts hand.
But it sure does p-iss a lot of people off in online poker. Even in live tourneys at times.
Plus, there's all the above that I mentioned to factor in.

Live tourneys can take less time, if you count the 2 or 3 who like to run the timer down in online poker.
But generally, live poker does take longer to play than online poker.
You don't think about the time ticking down when you're at a live table.
There is more to look at and think about in live poker play, so the time just ticks away.

Most 30 player live poker tourneys take up to 3 hours to play, and sometimes longer, depending on the players.

I hope this helps somewhat.
I've only played in 5 live tournaments that I can remember.
I think beaston has played in more live tourneys than myself, so he would be the one to know the overall length of poker tournament play.

I fall somewhere in the middle. I get somewhat irritated with people who do it on purpose.

There could be many other reasons for a slow reaction time like slow or bad connections. Maybe their computer is slow and can't run the poker calculators fast enough to keep up .

Usually I am playing a cash game along with the tournament to keep me occupied so it doesn't bother me to much.

I usually do that till it gets "crunch time" in the tournament, like final table.

That's a good one propiper.

I noticed of late, that if I have three or more games going at the same time and not enough coffee in the morning, I get the same thing.

I call a bet when I have a hand that has no value to me or the game.

And then I will end up folding on the next round of bets.
