Default 7 Card Stud Hi/Low

I played in a 7 Card Stud Hi/Low play money tourney yesturday morning. After one and-a-half hours, I came in 120th.

I had gone all-in with an A-high strait on my turn card or the sixth card given to me, just to get took out by a flush on their river card, on my last hand of that tourney. I was beat down a couple of times with the same thing during the tourney, but wasn't betting as much.

Those kind of hands always mess with my head. The player I play against will have one or two pair and then take me on their river card with a flush.

I also played a little 2-7 game on Saturday night. Was too tired to finish it at 3am in the morning, so I clicked on the 'post and fold' box. Found out I had finnished in 37th in that tourney, when I checked at near 10am yesturday.

I like the 2-7 low hand games, but they will knock you out if you aren't careful. I made a lot of chips at the start of the game because others thought their big hands would win, until they noitced it was a low-hand game they were playing.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I tried my hand at a couple 7 card hi/lo games this past weekend and didn't do too well.

I lasted about 30 minutes in a freeroll, where my stack was up to about 8000 chips, just to loose it all to one player who could not loose a hand.

I busted out of the freeroll tournament to this one player,
where it seemed like it didn't matter if I had the high pair, two pair, or trips,
this player would still take the pot with a hand that was just that much better.

Since I only got about two or three good hands in each of the two different games, I figured it was time for me to give up playing cards for the day.

So, I bugged out of the play money tourney too with half my chips left.

Some days you just gotta give it up and try it again another day.

stud uses holdem value hands & you get 7 cards (no community cards)

If its hi/low, the low hands are rated A-2-3..., etc

2-7 is actually a draw game (Ace is High).

Ive skipped a lot but that is about the jist of it

That about narrows it down, except for the fact that 7 card Stud you will have 7 cards in your hand (2 down, 4 up, 1 down).
With 2-7 low you get 3 draws and only have 5 cards and all face down to the other players.

2-7 is fairly simple; no straits (23456) or flushes (all the same suit), best hand is 23457.

If you get a 9 to 2 or lower you can usually make a safe call.
If you get the best hand (23457) always raise.

And 2-7 is usually a limit game, unless otherwise stated.

I know, I like to go on and on about things I think I know about. But hey, it's Me.
