No, because in Hi/Lo the low is determined from hi to low. So his 5 beats your six. Doesnt matter if you have an ace or not.

I don't play much omaha high low but isn't the low played like razz , where your high card needs to be smaller than the other players high card ?
you played the 6 and they played the 5 .

dsvw is right his 5 beats yur six, its who has the lowest high card. You both share the 8 as your lowest card, but the lowest card u dont have in common is a 6, while your opponent has a 5.

Thank you for explaining this because I didn't realize that the low was determined from Hi to Lo and now this makes more sense to me.

I didn't understand this at first either but now that I understand that the cards are looked at from Hi to Lo to determine the winner, it makes it easier to see the cards:
Your cards: 8,6,3,2,A
Opponent: 8,5,4,3,2 (His 5 beats your 6)
Sometimes I actually forget about this and call a bet if I have an A, 2 in my hand thinking that it will beat any low hand out there, but I am getting better every day.
