Ok so is it just me or is alot of the players you play against in tournaments.... well just not very skilled. i was never very good at playing ohmaha but latley i decided to learn the basics and get better, and i have been consistantly been doing really well (more ohaha , rather than Hi/Lo) . I think its worth practicing and playing what does everyone else think?

you are right a lot of the players i seem to come up against are just raising and calling machines, i honestly dont think they know how to play the game at all, it is not a hard game to learn but most of the people just cannot be bothered

I love playing omaha, but when in a tourney I don't seem to do very well.

I love to play omaha at first I hated it because I thought I had a made hand but when the river comes to put my flush down the river persay I was upset, then I read somewhere (been 4 years can't remember where) about not playing every hand you get dealt and I succeeded in playing much better

I'd have to agree with the original post. Most players are better at holdem than at omaha. As a generalization, they don't seem to have a very good appreciation of the differences between the two games. This is especially true when it's hi-lo, which adds a further dimension. I'm still not good at omaha, but by learning a little about how to play, I've seen a nice improvement in my results.

Nhrs50, you're right. There's a lot of money you can win at omaha8 limit or pot limit tables. Most players don't even know the basics of the game since Omaha WSOP has never been televised. Omaha & Omaha8 are actually the most profitable games and you conentrate on that game, maybe read a book or two, you can become a good Omaha player and all your time and money you invest will turn back into a lot of winnings.

I've been playing a lot of Omaha recently and am doing pretty well. Just one suggestion: Never play pot-limit omaha tourneys (espcially the ones with rebuys/addons). Everybody just plays like maniac and you are unlikely to get luck or wait for a decent hand.
