Could I have won this?
Ok, I was at the casino last night playing $1/$2 NL. I was at about $150 up from $100. It was still pretty early in the night and the table was still shorthanded, 7 players I think. I got dealt KsQs in middle position and raised to $8. The button and the BB called. The flop came 8d Qh 4c. The BB bet $5, I raised to $15, the button folded and the BB called. The turn was a 2h. BB checks and I bet $25 and he calls. The river was a 7h. The BB checked and I checked behind him. We both turned over KQ and split the pot. Do you think I made the right move by checking behind him on the river, or could I have taken the pot with a large bet, maybe a push, on the river?

Think you did right... he could quite easily of had something better and was waiting for your raise. He came out betting on the flop which might of been to try and steal the pot but he called the re-raise and the bet on the turn... so you've gotta assume he's got at least a queen and possibly even a flush draw when the turn is called. No point betting into that pot on the river anyway - you've got one pair with good kicker... plenty of action gone in... the only draw he could of been on he woulda hit so check. If he'd had say Q with a worse kicker you've still got a big pot... if he's got your beat he would a called or raised your bet anyway.
With knowing what he had it's hard to say whether he would of called a push on the river... probably though... but as I said I think you did right.

Hey DS.
I take it you were the first to act in that hand? If so, with KQ, especially suited, you were right to raise from middle position with that amount. When BB bet $5, that would have told me it was only a feeler bet. To see how strong you were. If he had AQ, he would/should have bet at least your initial raise or more. You did right by raising to $15 after the flop, and the amount was about right. When the BB checked after the turn, that was another sign of weakness. If he was strong, why would he give you two more chances to hit into your hand? The exact same scenario after the turn. Your $25 bet was perfect. The same scenario again from the BB after the river. Three times he did not show superior strength!! Also, had the BB drawn to a flush, I doubt that playing heads up, he would only have checked. My conclusion: You should have bet at least $35, or more, depending on your comfort zone. Mind you, DS, it's very easy to spend other peoples money.

He's called $48 in bets though before the river hits on a $1/$2 table... you've got to credit him with a decent hand... I don't think it's worth the risk betting more into the pot.

Hey IC.
As I said, it's easy to spend other peoples money (lol). Your key words are: "You've got to credit him with a decent hand". I agree with you, and, I think it was more than a decent hand. My decision is based on the fact that the BB showed weakness four times. Had he a strong hand, surely he would have placed a bet after the river, especially playing heads up. I don't mean to infer that this is THE way to have played the hand. It is the way I, personally, would have played it.

being that there was flush chances on the board and u only had top pair I wouldnt have bet the river either. hes gonna call you either way unless you push and he may still call then, checking behind him is the right thing to do
