Two hands, would you have played them differently?
Ok, these are from my weekend at the casino. These are the only two hands the entire night where I "sucked out" after the money went in, and I think I made the right play in both situations.
Hand #1
I had just switched over to the $1/$2 table from the $2/$5. I had $200 in play at the table and about $50 in chips in the cup that I had left from the $2/$5. I was the only player that sat down with $200, everyone else bought in for $50 or $100. I got dealt Kd-5d on the button. A couple limpers before me so I raised to $10 trying to pick up the $10 from the limpers and blinds. I got one caller from the BB. The flop was 2d-3d-5h. I picked up top pair with a flush draw. The BB checks, and I bet $15. He raises me to $30. At this point I put him on a mid PP like 88-JJ. That being the case, I was like a 55/45 favorite. So I re-raise him all-in. He calls and shows me QQ (Why on earth didn't you re-raise pre-flop? lol) I ended up hitting a K on the river for 2 pair and winning the pot. Of course he is disgusted and leaves the table. In my mind I think I made the right play. I knew I was behind at the time, but had a great draw and was willing to gamble on it. What do you think?
Hand #2
This was a little later on in the night and I was up to around $600. I got dealt AhAd in mid-late position. One player in EP raised to $8, the player to my right called, and I re-raised to $25. The raiser and caller both called my $25. The flop was Jh-7h-6h. Overpair with the nut flush draw. The Player in EP bet $30, guy to my right calls, and I push all my money in the middle. The player in EP thinks for a long time and lays it down. (I figured him for K's or Q's with no heart maybe, or perhaps AJ). Then the player next to me calls. He turns over JJ for a set of J's. I hit my A on the turn and a 7 hit the river giving me A's full of 7's. Now this guy is irate. "Un-****ing believable" He keeps saying. Now first of all, why is he just smooth calling with a set of J's when there's 3 to a flush on the board? Second, when the money went in the middle It was pretty close to a coinflip, like 42/58 I think. So it wasn't even THAT bad of a beat. Finally, there's no way I get away from that hand, ever. Even if for some reason I had a total lapse in judment and just call the $30 on the flop, I hit the my set on the turn so there's no way I lay down cause even if I figure someone for the flush, I still have the nut flush draw and I have a FH draw too. What do you think?
