WOW is all I have to say about this.
This was playing $1/$2 PL.
I was in the CO with KK which I promptly raised the max with.
The villain was in the BB.
A little back story on the villain here. He's a very very solid player. He's one of only about 3 players at this casino who's play I respect. We've played together on more than a few occasions and have become pretty good friends. As far as I know, he has alot of respect for my game as well
So back to the hand.
I raise the pot from the CO. There was a few limpers before me so I think it was $11.
The villain calls from the BB and the limpers fold.
The flop comes 4c-4s-Ks
Now I could not have asked for a better flop than that and to top it all off the villain here comes out firing for the full pot.
In to the tank I go. Now not because I'm concerned of the strength of my hand, but I'm trying to figure out how to get max value out of this hand as I am absolutely positive he has AK here. So I'm going through whether I should call here or raise. I take about 2 full minutes here before deciding I need to raise.
Now here's where some of you are going "WHAT

??". I just flopped just about the absolute nuts and I'm raising. If ever there was a situation to slowplay, surely this is it. But here is why I raised, I absolutely do not want to see another spade fall on the turn. Now you're saying "what an idiot, a full house beats a flush." But thats not why I don't want to see a spade fall. If I just call here and a spade falls on the turn its going to kill my action. Think about it for a minute. What could I possibly smooth call with on the flop besides something like AsQs. If I flat call here, my opponent is certainly going to put me on the flush draw and the hand is over if another spade falls. If I raise him here though, it gives him a chance to put all his money in the middle while he thinks he still has the best hand.
So I raise about 1.5x his bet, not quite a full pot bet and then he goes in to the tank. I'm sitting there just waiting for it. I'm eyeing up his chips, thinking about how nice they're going to look in my stack. Then the unthinkable happened. He flashes me his AK and throws it in the muck. I go ahead and show him my flopped boat. Nice lay down.
He later told me that if it had been anyone else at the table, he would have pushed in a heartbeat. Bah, the curse of having a strong image.
