No Razzle Dazzle
I played a little bit of Razz yesturday, and what happens in most of the tourneys I play in, happened with this one too. I usually have a good chip lead while playing for about an hour, but in this game I cannot get any good low cards to keep my game alive.
I won maybe 5 pots in the nearly one hour of playing. The chip leader was up above 10g's and several others at close to 4,000 in chips. I had just taken a few chips away from the leader with an 8,7,5,3,2 and another player took about 1,000 chips from the leader in the next hand. Things were looking up at this point.
I folded a few more hands, since I was delt hands like, J,3,3 or K,J,10, and, well, you get the idea, those were my hands. Finally I get a decent hand, 9,7,2. The antes have chipped away a little at my chips and a couple big blinds also with my big cards showing on the table. I decided to give it everything on this hand.
The big stack was showing, 6,Q,K,2, so I figure I've got a good chance at winning this thing and doubling my chips. I end up all in with 9,7,6,5,2, and when it's over the chip leader has 9,7,6,5,A. What an upset, he had caught the A as his last card. No razzle dazzle for me in this game. I made it out in 10th place out of 20 players.
I'll get the final table next time around.

Yep....keep banging away at it
Razz is definitely a game that will make you pull your hair out. And if you're like me at all, you won't have far to go before there's no more to pull...
btw, check out the .25/.50 Razz tables on FTP...they seem to be pretty soft.

Re: No Razzle Dazzle
you need to adjust your strategy.
Razz tournies are usually limit. Just keep playing your game in the 1st hour.
The cards you see are not the cards others see (Unless u play at AP).
Play your hands but like most other games, play around the blinds.
Keep stepping up the aggression the deeper you go.
If you look as if you are ahead, play like it.
after that, its bluffing, good cards and a bit of luck

Re: No Razzle Dazzle
Thanks for the good advice bobbysands90, I'll keep this in mind for my next try at Razz.
(I like your mention of AP and not seeing players cards, cute)

Re: No Razzle Dazzle
How are Razz tournaments? On Full Tilt there aren't that many players in them so I don't join them usually.. IE if there are only 20-30 people then the prize won't warrant the time spent.. I did play one once and did pretty well in it, as opposed to usually playing ring games.

Re: No Razzle Dazzle
I noticed Poker Stars has Razz freerolls at least a couple times a day for now.
In their Stud area there are also Razz games and I think they have it in their Sit and Go area too.
Just a little something fyi.
Since Bugsy's has shut down and transferred over to Poker Stars, I play there on weekends now.

Re: No Razzle Dazzle
Poker Stars has stepped it up a knotch for their Bugsy's Club players and the other hundreds of thousands of players on the PS site.
About every hour there's some kind of freeroll game going on, and about every 15 minutes they have some kind of play money game you can join too.
They also have all kinds of real and play money sit and gos, single tables and other tourneys.
I don't think I could get board too easily at Poker Stars.

Good going catwoman.
You will learn a lot by getting the hands-on poker experience at PS.
I've only made it into one money game through a freeroll, and could be in more if I spent more time with it.
If you practice enough, you could get into a money tourney too, and possibly make a bankroll for yourself.
