I played in one of these games on one of the sites I have downloaded (just can't remember the name; dang old timers memory)and it was fun. It is actually a great change of pace from everything else. I know that I had fun at least. I do remember that it was not under the name RAZZ though. If my brain comes back, I will post the site that hosted it.

Short handed, end of Tournament: In Razz, you will notice, usually you don't make a hand (your opponent has the same problem). . . your 3 gets paired up and a K and Q don't help . . . Sooooooooooo, the fewer the players, the more important it is to bluff; calling on 3rd and 4th street and BLUFFING on 5th can be affective, however, being dominant from the start is best. And, of course, just folding the bad hand at the start and moving on to the next has got to be part of your repertoire.

I only play razz when I'm on a losing streak that way I figure i'll start winning with my crappy cards. Once I start losing at razz I go back to 7card stud

i love razz. my first exposure to the game was when i bought the WSOP game for PS2. i won the very 1st tourney i played on there and have been hooked ever since. as far as strategy goes... Doyle's Super System has a great section on Razz and all other lowball games. any1 who hasnt read Super System yet needs to! has done wonders for my game, especially Limit Hold em.

I have won a few Razz tournaments. I have noticed that coming out betting, regardless of your starting hand or up card is usually the best way to go. If you are playing against an agressive player, folding out of a couple of smaller pots during the heads-up will give the impression of being a timid player. This gives you the ability to bluff more effectively, but like with any heads-up situation, you have to be willing to play more highly questionable hands. When you start getting short handed, it is really important to see if your opponents have changes their style. I have found that most people who do not change their style at this level cannot finish a tournament. You need to have more guts in short-handed Razz, and be willing to risk more chips on questionable hands. But don't forget the "It Happens" rule, because it does and will!

I play Razz a lot, and I have to say that usually coming out betting on every hand regardless of your up card or starting hand is about as intelligent a strategy in Razz as it is in every other poker game.

However, a lot of people who dont know razz play that way. Just like when you get a lot of hold em players in a stud h/l freeroll: they cap the betting with awful hands.

In a low limit Razz game, you will run into a lot of people who play like the person quoted above. Problem is, if you start playing like them you will be betting a losing hand more often than not. So, instead of throwing your money away playing bingo, play a little tighter. Dont open the betting or raise on 3rd street cuz you are going to be laying down a lot of hands and you dont want the dead money in the pot to be yours. Wait for a reasonable hand (doesnt have to be a draw to the bike, especially if your higher card is down)... wait for a reasonable hand and then go all the way to the river with it if you have a made 5 card low... people will pay you off with all sorts of surprising crap. Once you have established a tight image you can loosen up a bit, but for gods sake dont try to eliminate players with a single bet, cuz it wont work...people with a jack showing on 3rd will cold call all sorts of raises, so bluffing is not usually an option (in low limit games), just accept the fact that you will generally have to be patient but never fear when you do hit the bike 2 or 3 people will probably pay you off to see it.
