Let's face it. Gus loves to gamble. He probably put Antonio on a small pocket pair, and went with that read. If he was right, then he was only about a 2-3% underdog in that situation. Worst case scenario is that Antonio had AK, 99 or a bigger pair, which would make him a big underdog. He definitely got lucky.
My theory:
Gus got greedy, and it actually paid off for him. He saw a chance to take out the #2 chip stack and take a dominating lead.
